Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 11, 2026
This policy explains what information the NotForGym app for iPhone and Apple Watch (the “App”) handles, where it is stored and what choices you have. The App is developed and published by Hüseyin Emre Gürbüz (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the App's data processing. You can contact us at the address on our support page.
1. Data you enter in the App
The App stores the information you enter to make it work: workouts, sets, weights, repetitions, notes, ratings, routines, custom exercises, body weight and body measurements, and profile details such as your name or nickname, goal, sex, birth year, height, activity level, preferred units and reminder settings.
- On your device. This data is saved locally on your iPhone (and the paired Apple Watch during a workout).
- In your private iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, the App syncs this data through Apple's CloudKit private database and iCloud key-value storage tied to your Apple Account. This storage belongs to you; we cannot access it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Not on our servers. We do not operate any server for the App and do not receive, collect or sell your training data.
2. Apple Health
If you turn on “Save to Apple Health”, the App writes each finished workout to Apple Health as a strength training workout with its duration and an estimated active energy (calorie) value. The App does not read any data from Apple Health.
Data written to or accessed through HealthKit is not used for advertising or marketing, is not shared with or sold to third parties (including advertising networks and data brokers), and is not stored by us in iCloud or anywhere else outside Apple Health. You can turn this off in the App or manage permissions at any time in the Health app (Profile → Apps → NotForGym).
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the App displays ads served by Google AdMob, using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Ads are never shown during an active workout. When ads are shown, Google may collect and process data such as:
- device identifiers, including the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking in the iOS prompt;
- IP address and approximate (coarse) location derived from it;
- device and app information, ad interaction data (views, taps) and diagnostic data.
Your choices:
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and other regions where required). Before any ads are requested, the App shows Google's consent form. You can change your choice later from the App's settings.
- App Tracking Transparency. iOS asks whether the App may track you. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, your IDFA is not shared and ads are less personalized. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Remove ads. A one-time in-app purchase turns off all ads; the Google Mobile Ads SDK then no longer requests ads.
Your workout, measurement and Health data are never shared with Google or any ad network. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
4. In-app purchases
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. The App only checks with Apple whether you own the “Remove Ads” purchase so it can unlock it on your devices.
5. Things you choose to share
- AI prompt. The App can create a text summary of your training for you to copy or share. It is generated on your device and is not sent anywhere by the App. If you paste it into a third-party AI service (for example ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini), that service's privacy policy applies.
- Athlete card and CSV export. Images and files you create are shared only where you send them through the iOS share sheet.
- Feedback email. If you contact us from the App, your email app opens with the App version, device model and iOS version pre-filled. We use your message and email address only to reply to you.
6. Notifications, Live Activities and widgets
Rest timer, reminder and unfinished-workout notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Live Activities, widgets and the Apple Watch app display data that stays on your devices. iCloud sync uses silent push notifications from Apple only to know when new data is available.
7. Data retention and deletion
- Delete in the App: Profile → “Delete all data and start over” permanently removes your workouts, measurements and settings from the device and from your iCloud.
- iCloud: You can also delete the App's iCloud data in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- Apple Health: Workouts already saved to Health are managed and deleted in the Health app.
- Deleting the App removes its local data from your device; data in your iCloud remains until you delete it as above.
Because we do not hold your data, we keep nothing about you after you delete it, except emails you have sent us, which we keep only as long as needed to handle your request.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 “KVKK”, or US state laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Most of these you can do directly in the App (edit, export to CSV, delete all data, change ad consent). For anything else, contact us — we will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not sell personal information.
10. Security
Your data is protected by iOS data protection on your device and by Apple's security for iCloud. Data synced through iCloud is transferred over encrypted connections.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the App's release notes.
